Car Facts 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX Fun Facts

The Pontiac Grand Prix is an automobile produced by the Pontiac division of General Motors. First introduced as part of Pontiac's full-size model offering for the 1962 model year, the Grand Prix name has also been applied to cars in the personal luxury car market segment and the mid-size offering, slotting below the large Bonneville in the company's lineup. As of mid-model year 2007, the Grand Prix is Pontiac's largest automotive offering in production, superseding the recently canceled Pontiac Bonneville. For the 2007 Model Year, only cosmetic changes were made to the Grand Prix. A "Special Edition" body package was added, and the GT models get a new "Diffuser" style rear bumper. The model designations remain Base, GT, and GXP. The GT model is dropped along with the supercharged 3800 III V6 that powers it. Only Base and GXP trims levels will be produced for the remainder of the model run. The Grand Prix will cease production in November 2007, replaced in part by the upcoming Pontiac G8.

The full-sized luxury Pontiac Grand Prix was introduced in 1962.
