Car Facts 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA Fun Facts

The Nissan Maxima is a car manufactured by Nissan that is in a line of upper mid-size executive and sports sedans. The Maxima debuted in 1976 as an upscale version of the Bluebird and was spun into its own line in 1980, having been made continuously since then. Most pre-2004 Maximas were built in Oppama, Japan, until the current North American Maximas started being assembled in Smyrna, Tennessee. For 2007, the new Nissan Maxima became available with a standard Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) (similar to the CVT in Nissan's Murano). It features a freshened grill (now lacking the center block, the grill closely resembles that of its cousin the 2007 Altima).

The Nissan Maxima line got its start as the top-of-the-line version of the Datsun 810.

When production moved to Smyrna, Tennessee, the 2003 Nissan Maxima became the last Maxima built in Japan.
