Consumers have questions and so did we...
• What are the types of insurance coverage and what are the amounts required for the province of Delaware.
• What does the law say pertaining to minimum insurance coverage in Delaware?
Delaware has strict mandatory policies about vehicle registration, insurance coverage minimums, and financial responsibilities pertaining to every vehicle owned, operated, or parked on its roadways. In Delaware, you can obtain your learner’s permit at sixteen and your restricted license at sixteen and a half, with a full license at seventeen.
To adhere to Delaware's auto insurance rules, you must...
In Delaware, you must maintain a current insurance policy with a registered insurance company or broker carrying the minimum insurance requirements or greater. There are many different types of insurance, at competitive rates, so shop around for the best price. Be aware that once insured, if you miss a payment on your policy, your insurance could be cancelled, without notice.
1. Delaware requires each driver to carry third party liability insurance, also called PLPD, accidental benefits coverage, and uninsured and unidentified driver’s coverage, which insures you, in case you injure someone, cause a death, or damage someone’s property in a motor vehicle accident.
In Delaware, you must have third party liability insurance for bodily injury with each person allowed $15,000.00, up to maximum of $30,000.00, as well as an additional $5,000.00 for property damages. If there are more than two people injured, whoever files first gets the settlement.
2. In Delaware, you must carry your driver’s license and proof of insurance, which has not expired, in your motor vehicle. If you driver’s license has been suspended, or your insurance has expired, your vehicle could be towed to the compound by the police. You driver’s license can also be suspended if you owe back child support.

Question: Is car insurance cheaper in Delaware the PA? I am going to be moving from Pennsylvania to Delaware in the upcoming months. I will need to change my auto insurance and was wondering for anyone else that has made this move, is it cheaper to insure in Delaware(Wilmington) then in Pennsylvania(suburbs)?
Also, I got an online qoute from my current insurance company which I currently pay $157/month. Online it told me my premium would be $762/month or $4572 every 6 months so this is obviously not an accurate amount.
Answer: De is cheaper. my friend moved there. but do make sure you are moving to a good area because if an area has high crime, then the insurance will be more. do some research too. good luck.

Question: Will I be able to be licensed for insurance in Delaware? I am a 24 year old male. I have no misdemeanor convictions, but had an alcohol-related driving offense on my driving record. My dui charge itself was dismissed.
I have more than 10 points on my license for the above reason as well as some speeding tickets that will come off in 2009.
In addition to this, my credit is banged up stemming from an auto reposession in late 2003.
What problems will I run into trying to acquire licensure for health and life insurance in the state of Delaware and/or getting a spot as an agent at an insurance company?
Answer: as for the license, you're fine. They wont deny application for these offenses. U will only be denied due to Financial crimes. If they can show that u mis-represented yourself, stole, lied, or otherwise did something dumb while u held a job where u had access/ influence on other peoples money. You are fine
