If you're in the market for a 911, you don't need me to extol the virtues of the type. 1988 was the penultimate year of the 3.2 Carrera before the 964 debuted in 1990. Gearboxes, long Porsche's achilles heel, had been upgraded to the much better G50 by 1988. These are the best and last of the torsion bar cars. And even though it's a cabriolet, this car still handles great with none of the chassis flex and cowl shake that plague other convertibles. After more than 20 years of continuous improvement with the 911 (and there's a lot to like about a 911 from any year), Porsche definitely was at the top of its game in 1988. This example in Nougat Brown Metallic is remarkably clean, original and unmolested. It was clearly a special wishes car custom-ordered with all sorts of rare and desirable options, including a power and heated driver's seat, power convertible top, full tonneau cover, body color Fuchs, cruise control and factory air conditioning (which actually works well). We have a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity documenting the factory options and color. Cosmetically, it's in excellent shape -- the paint is original and shows well, glass, trim and rubber are excellent. The interior has also held up very well, with original upholstery, door panels and carpet all in good condition. The convertible top and cover are both in great shape, and this car was optioned with a rare full tonneau cover -- also in like-new condition. Al gauges and power options, including the top, are working perfectly. The Fuchs are in excellent shape with newer tires. With just over 100,000 miles, the chassis and drivetrain still feel quite fresh. Everything works as it should, the suspension and steering feel tight, clutch, gearbox and power delivery are smooth and sure, just as you would expect. The car is very dry underneath and the a/c actually blows cold -- a rarity on any vintage 911. Autoheat also works as it should and all blowers are functioning normally. This example also still has all of its books and tools.
