It's a great car to begin driving in because of it's size, gas mileage, and capabilities. Easy to manage on most roads, in all traffic, and upkeep is simple. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for regular commuting, a small family, or for a teens first car.
Toyota Yaris Ratings, Reviews and Analysis
Ratings & Reviews
I really like the spaciousness and inside storeage compartments. I was dissapointed I couldn't hit the advertised MPG
The pros outweigh the cons--this would be the ideal college kid's car. Fuel economy is superb, and the car itself is low maintenance and very affordable.
This car gets good gas mileage, drives smoothly, and so far (i've had it for 3 years) has had no issues and required no work other than standard maintenance.
If you're looking for a dependable, long-lasting vehicle which gets great gas mileage, the Toyota Yaris is for you. At the low end of Toyota's price scale, this gas-only engine gets about 35-40 miles per gallon on the freeway, making for a perfect no-frills commuter vehicle. And the feel is surprisingly solid for a sub-compact; you don't have the sensation of sitting on the ground you get in other small cars. Although not a sports car (the handling is not very good, especially at speed); the 2010 Yaris holds its own on the freeway. Merging accelaration is adequate. The odd things is that the instrument console is in the center of the dashboard. The major drawback is that the substantial feel of the car comes at a price...thick roof pillars which substantially cut down the visibility.
