First Car

This is my first car and I love it. It is just the right size for me, I can take a couple friends or but the seats down and have plenty of room. Its also old enough that Im not extremely worried about it.

DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED

REGRET PURCHASING THIS 2004 FORD EXPLORER. I HAVE SPENT 5 YEARS PAYING 360 PAYMENTS TO HAVE IT ONLY END UP AS "JUNK". VERY UPSETTING AND DANGEROUS--PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. PLEASE CONSIDER ME FOR A 'GOODWILL REPAIR'. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS AND PLEASE MAKE A DIFFERENCE. SAVE A LIFE.

my impression is that it is a great commuter.

what I like is that it rides smooth, brakes are smooth. power everything and it all works. great in snow and rain. the only thing I don't like is that its an suv. been more of a manual transmission CAR kind of guy.

Overall this is a good hardworking car.

I am selling my car simply because I need a 3rd row SUV. (remember, we are a large family) The gas mileage is not good but gets me where i need to go. Would never take it on a long trip ride.

if you aren't pinching pennies, then this is a reliable and comfortable ride

Like the comfort and 4x4. Always started, even when it was 20 below. Cargo space is more than enough for what most would need. Plus, there is enough room to put all three of our childrens carseats into the back seat.

Recall Notices

2017 Ford Explorer (8/28/2017)

Campaign Number: 17V530000
Component Name: STEERING
Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
Description: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Explorer, Taurus and Police Interceptor Utility and Sedan vehicles. The steering gear heat shield fasteners may corrode, allowing the heat shield to detach.
Defect: If the heat shield detaches, the steering gear may overheat, increasing the steering effort required by the driver, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action: Ford will notify owners, and dealers to inspect and replace the heat shield fasteners as needed, free of charge. The recall is expect to begin in September 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S23.

2017 Ford Explorer (8/28/2017)

Campaign Number: 17E048000
Component Name: SUSPENSION:REAR
Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
Description: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain Wheel Hub Bearing assemblies, part number HB5Z-1104-C, incorrectly listed as being for installation on the rear axles of 2011-2017 Ford Explorer 4X2 vehicles. These bearings assemblies were manufactured without a self retention feature, possibly resulting in the separation of the wheel or wheel end.
Defect: A loss of the wheel or wheel end can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action: Ford will notify the distributors of the hubs specifying that they are to only be used on drive axles. It is believed that none of the hubs were purchased from Ford dealers for the incorrect application. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
