2006-2007 Honda Accord Ratings, Reviews and Analysis

It's no secret. Modern vehicles are more reliable than ever, thanks to industry-wide quality processes that are more or less universally applied across all auto manufacturers. Though quality surveys differ in the specifics, most present the same clear trend: the gap between the best- and worst-performing vehicles is much narrower than it ever has been. How, then, does the Honda Accord hold onto its reputation as a default choice among midsize sedans?

As reliability becomes less of a differentiator between competing midsize sedans, savvy car shoppers are changing their focus. Fuel efficiency, in-car connectivity and interior appointments are more important than ever among shoppers seeking maximum value. In each of these areas, the once-trailblazing Accord finds itself squarely mid-pack. Subtract older Accords' visceral charm, and factor in the current vehicle's pedigreed pricetag. It's a formula that could forecast a fall from grace for the Honda Accord -- especially if the competition maintains its half-step lead.

The Good and the Bad

The Good: Reliability, low repair costs, comfortable cabin, satellite radio The Bad: poor turning radius, long delay when putting car in reverse gear, transmission acts funny at 60MPH (RPMs are too low causing car to shake and vibrate as if the tires are flat), really poor mileage (gets 25MPG on highway but when car idles it gobbles gas fast causing city to be more like 17MPG), responsiveness is just ok. Overall: Would not buy another. I expected more from this car. The worst part is the turning radius, for such a small car I would expect to zip in and out of parking spaces, just can’t happen which makes the car ultra-ultra uncomfortable to run around town with!

Typical Honda

This is my second Honda, my first was a 95 accord that made it to 224,000 miles. I really like this new one. It handles much better and rides firmer (which i like) the braking is decent and the 2.4 i v-tec engine is quicker and better on fuel than my old V6. Mine is pretty basic, it has manual cloth seats, no sunroof, no heated seats or nav. but i like it because it does what its supposed to do well. Im a little leery though about the transmission, to me it seems to shift rough compared to other cars ive been in. Mine has 97,500 on it and im hoping it will get me to at least 250,000. I plan to take good care of it and follow the service manual, hopefully it will pay off. If you can, buy one!

MOST RELIABLE CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED

This car is great! Virtually unbreakable. has 85k on it now, and only ever replaced a 20$ sensor in the radiator. Besides tires/brakes/oil changes, its a SOLID car.. Heated seats & mirrors are a great touch, and the 6 disc CD changer is awesome for road trips! Only downside, is that the MPG is really based on how much of a lead foot you have, if you are constantly flooring it, expect about 20-25 MPG. The v6 model is a little more peppy, but has known issues with the transmission, also the 4cyl has a timing chain, and the 6cyl has a belt that needs to be replaced at 110k miles.(about a 500$ service) If features arent important, check the VP, not many bells & whistles but same drive/engin

Really good... but

I bought this car for my wife 5 years ago. Attractive, well put together, sporty, economical, reliable, and still turns head after all this time. The car is pretty good, too! It reminds me a lot of the old Prelude, but a lot bigger.

Great buy

I bought my car in Summer of 2010. It was a used car with just over 28,000 miles on it. The very next day I took the car on a five week cross-country road trip. I was impressed with how zippy the car is and how comfortable it is on the highway. Road noise can be loud, but around town or with the radio on it is a very quiet place to be. With the car fully loaded (trunk and back seat) and with A/C on low, I was able to get 32 mpg the entire trip (using cruise control). I have also been able to get 35+ mpg on other non-loaded trips with cruise control. The car is cheap to run and with the stick can be a hoot in 2 or 3 gear. Very practical car. I recommend it highly.

2006 Honda Accord (5/28/2015)

Campaign Number: 15V320000
Component Name: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE

Corrective Action: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Vehicles that, on or after September 12, 2014, received a remedy for a prior driver frontal air bag inflator recall already received an inflator of a different design, and therefore are not included in this recall and do not require additional servicing.
